Our mission is to be the leading manufacturer of modular
buildings, modular wall systems, prefabricated buildings, shelters,
mezzanines and towers in North America. We will accomplish this goal
by providing the highest level of quality and service to our
customers and by committing to providing the most innovative,
value-added and cost effective building solutions to satisfy their
needs.
Company History
Porta-King is the largest operating division of Jay Henges
Enterprises which dates back to 1932. From 1932 through 1969, The
Henges Company was a very successful building specialty contractor
catering to the residential and commercial construction market.
In 1969, the Porta-King division was known as ParKing,
devoting its entire production to prefabricated buildings used for
attendant booths for the parking and petroleum industry and guard
buildings for the industrial sector. Through the increase of demand
for larger structures, used for interior construction applications,
in 1974 we developed a product called the PanelKing System was a
sectional building system, utilizing a spline connection. This new
product was easy to install and was introduced as an alternative to
conventional, permanent, construction. Along with the introduction of
our first modular building system we changed our name to Porta-King
Building Systems to better reflect the diversification of our
business.
We believe the key to our success has been our ability, and
willingness, to adapt to new industry trends. Since our inception we
have responded to our customers by introducing many "industry firsts"
to address these developing trends in the modular and prefabricated
construction industry. This includes new products, modification to
existing products which includes adaptation to address new building
and energy code requirements. Many of these changes have resulted in
new patents.
Today, Porta-King manufactures five different types of
prefabricated building and shelter systems which include high level
ballistic rated construction. We manufacture eight different types of
modular wall systems, structural steel mezzanines and towers.
Porta-King is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, and has
eleven regional sales offices throughout the United States. We
operate two production facilities in St. Louis and Montgomery City,
Missouri with over 180,000 square feet of combined manufacturing
space.
