Porta-King’s prefab modular office construction was used to create this 1,400 square foot TSA Security office inside an existing cruise ship terminal located on the Northern Coast of California. The owner selected a modular designed system for construction of this in-plant office to facilitate a 90 day fast track project completion goal. Another advantage to utilization of a prefab wall design is the light floor load this type of construction creates when compared to other conventional construction materials. This was of particular interest to the architect because this new office complex was to be constructed on top of a 1920’s vintage pier where there were no “as built” drawings pertaining to the pier’s foundation.
Another unique feature of this project was the siding that was added to the wall exterior. The architect incorporated the siding you see in this photograph the along with the addition of mullions onto the fixed windows to help match the aesthetics of the existing historical architecture of the pier.
Another advantage to utilizing Porta-King’s prefabricated design is that all of the components used in constructing this prefab modular building system are pre-cut and mitered to fit the exact floor plan dimensions for this application.
A Porta-King representative met on-site with the owner and their general contractor to review the special requirements of this project. Porta-King supplied all parties with detailed approval drawings, which illustrated the exact layout of the prefab modular office. These approval drawings were carefully reviewed and approved prior to fabrication of the prefab modular building at our factory. This process greatly reduces the possibility of mistakes resulting from miscommunication. In addition, Porta-King’s representative worked closely with the owner, architect and general contractor throughout the installation of this prefab wall system to make sure the project was completed on time.
