How to Make Your Modular Office Quieter & More Comfortable

Modular Office

Modular offices are known for their sustainability and ease of construction. Unfortunately, some people equate modular with uncomfortable and impersonal, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Modular offices can be designed to be comfortable and work with the environment in which they are constructed, be it an office building or warehouse. Some simple additions to your existing modular office can greatly improve your employees’ comfort.

Add Soundproofing Walls or Panels

No matter what business you’re in, it’s important that your employees have a quiet place to work. With that in mind, soundproofing your modular office is especially important in loud environments like warehouses and military bases. These additions make your modular office quieter for your employees, improving concentration and reducing noise-induced headaches.

You can choose to have soundproof walls installed when your modular office is built to keep exterior noise out and you can add acoustic panels to modular walls to reduce noise inside the room. Acoustic panels can be added at any time after your modular office is constructed and add style to the space.

Use the Right Flooring

Is your modular office using tiled floors or hardwood? These materials are not known for reducing sound and can make your modular office louder than it needs to be when employees talk or walk around. Consider using carpeting instead, which had sound absorbing qualities. If you don’t want carpeting in your modular office, consider floating floors.Floating floors are installed with a noise-cancelling under-layer and can be used for:

  • Hardwood
  • Laminate
  • Tile

Use the Right Furniture

Adding comfortable office furniture that is also pleasing to the eye is a great way to make your modular office comfortable and quiet. However, the furniture must be upholstered, as fabrics absorb noise. In addition to reducing noise, upholstered furniture will make your modular office look nicer and will be more comfortable for employees while they work.
