| Prefabricated Catwalk Providing Access to Mezzanine Deck |
Porta-King manufactured this prefabricated catwalk for use in conjunction with this mezzanine platform. The structure allows access to mezzanine deck through an existing door located on the second floor of this building. Both the prefabricated catwalk and mezzanine were installed in a fraction of the time required for a conventionally built system.
Like our mezzanines, all of our catwalks are designed in compliance with the new IBC (International Building Code). The new code requires that catwalks and mezzanines be designed to accommodate greater lateral loading than was required by previous codes.
The guardrail we supply for our catwalks is a truly prefabricated design. Unlike our competitor’s guardrail that ships in pieces for on-site assembly, our guardrail arrives in fully assembled panels. These guardrail panels can be lifted to the top of the mezzanine and catwalk deck surface and then quickly installed onto the finished deck surface.
Once a final layout for the project has been determined, we create a detailed CAD drawing for a final on-site review. We do this to make sure the final design of the structure will fit perfectly with the existing structure. Our dealer will review the drawings with the customer to determine if any last minute modifications to the layout are required prior to fabrication of the catwalk.
In addition, we provide very detailed installation instructions to assure a comprehensive understanding for the installation crew.
