Porta-King manufactured this prefab catwalk for use in conjunction with this modular 2-story office. The prefab catwalk allows access to second floor of this modular office from a doorway located in the existing building. A prefab catwalk can be installed in a fraction of the time required for a catwalk built with conventional assembly methods.
Our catwalks are designed in compliance with the new IBC (International Building Code). The new code requires a prefab catwalk to be designed to accommodate greater lateral loading than required by previous codes. We also supplied guardrail for this prefab catwalk to enhance the safety of the personnel using this structure.
The guardrail we designed for use with this prefab catwalk is truly a prefabricated system. Unlike our competitor’s guardrail that ships in many pieces, requiring considerable time for installation, our guardrail utilized a panelized design. The guardrail panels can be lifted onto the top of the prefab catwalk deck surface and then quickly installed onto the finished floor. We painted this prefab catwalk with a two- part epoxy to create a highly durable finish. We offer a variety of optional paint colors to match specific corporate color schemes.
To make sure the final prefab catwalk design is in compliance with the customer’s requirements, we provided our dealer with detailed approval drawings to complete an on-site review prior to its fabrication. Our dealer reviewed these drawings with the customer to determine if any last minute modifications to the layout were required prior to fabrication of the prefab catwalk. In addition, we provide very detailed installation instructions to assure a comprehensive understanding for the installation crew.
