Porta-King manufactured this prefabricated catwalk for use in conjunction with this modular 2-story office. The catwalk allows access to second floor of this modular office from a doorway located in the existing building. A structure like this one can be installed in a fraction of the time required to construct a conventionally built steel or wood structure.
Our catwalks are designed in compliance with the new IBC (International Building Code). The new code requires prefabricated catwalks to be designed to accommodate greater lateral loading than required by previous codes. We also supplied guardrail for this application to enhance the safety of the personnel using this structure.
The guardrail we include for use with our catwalks is truly a prefabricated system. Unlike our competitor’s guardrail that ships in many pieces, requiring considerable time for installation, our guardrail utilized a panelized design. The guardrail panels can be lifted onto the top of the finished deck surface and then quickly installed onto the finished floor. We painted this structure with a two-part epoxy to create a highly durable finish. We offer a variety of optional paint colors to match specific corporate color schemes.
To make sure the final design is in compliance with the customer’s requirements, we provided our dealer with detailed approval drawings to use during an on-site review with their customer prior to fabrication. Our dealer reviewed these drawings with the customer to determine if any last minute modifications to the layout were required prior to fabrication. In addition, we provide very detailed installation instructions to assure a comprehensive understanding for the installation crew.
