Code Compliance
The PK Structures mezzanine system is designed and built to meet the most stringent safety and structural standards as defined by the new 2003 International Building Code (IBC 2003), making us the leader in safety and code compliance.
Seismic Map Comparison
These maps illustrate the differences in seismic considerations between the new IBC 2003 and BOCA 1999 building codes. In order to provide a more accurate comparison between the new IBC 2003 and the BOCA 1999 siesmic zones, both maps utilize IBC 2003 seismic calculations for determining ground motion. The colors on the map indicate seismic levels. "A" being the least and "D,E,F" being the most.

IBC 2003
The IBC is the combined effort of three model code groups, and is intended to be a comprehensive set of regulations for building systems consistent with and inclusive of the latest existing codes.
The IBC 2003 requires structures, including mezzanines and catwalks, to be designed to resist the strongest seismic forces in a much larger portion of the continental U.S. than previous national building codes. In addition, it specifies that seismic loads for structures such as mezzanines and catwalks must be considered in areas where they were previously ignored.
Each structure will be designed to meet structural standards for your region's seismic zone. All beam-to-column connections utilize established AISC standards. In addition, systems meet or exceed safety standards set by OSHA.
All PK Structures mezzanines are designed in accordance with L/360 deflection criteria, required by the National Buildings Codes: IBC, BOCA, UBC, SBC.
