| Modular Building on a Mezzanine Creates Breakroom and Offices |
This Modular Building / Break room and Office complex was constructed on top of 125 PSF structural steel mezzanine and included dual 48" wide stairs. The mezzanine is 25'-0" x 60'-0" x 8' X 9 3/8" Top of Deck. Custom design features included special 1 1/2" round pipe guardrails and stair rails. Two sets of stairs were included to enhance traffic flow to and from the modular building. The mezzanine also included a 6' lift-out gate for loading of supplies and equipment.
The Modular Building / Break room and Office complex erected on top of the mezzanine is 21' x 60' x 9'-4" high. The wall construction included a 1/2" (Class 1) vinyl covered drywall panel finish. The addition of drywall to both sides of the panel surface not only creates a Class 1 fire retardant wall system, but also greatly enhances the sound attenuating properties. Painted steel doors matching the interior and exterior wall finish were also included in this modular building.
This application demonstrates a perfect utilization of overhead cube for providing a quiet, clean environment for plant personnel. In addition, the prefabricated design of both the mezzanine and modular building enabled a much shorter time line for completion of the overall project in comparison to conventional construction.
