| Modular Building on Tall Mezzanine with Stair and Intermediate Landing |
This Modular Vision Tower was built on top of a steel mezzanine to create office space while keeping the floor clear for other uses. The modular building and mezzanine are both 10 wide by 40 in length. The wall panels for this building are 8 high and the mezzanine has an under clearance of 8. The top-of-deck height for the mezzanine is approximately 10.
The unique type 3 connection used as a standard for all PK Structures mezzanines created a rigid structural support system without the use of knee bracing or cross bracing that may cause interference with the fork truck traffic lanes which were a critical concern for this application.
Modular construction was selected for this project because it could be assembled considerably faster than conventional construction. The modular construction concept also meant that this modular vision tower could be moved or reconfigured if necessary. The same would hold true for the prefabricated mezzanine structure. Both the mezzanine and modular building were supplied by Porta-King through our local dealer. A turn-key installation was part of the overall project plan. Two stairs with intermediate landing where supplied to provide ingress and egress on both sides of the modular enclosure. The intermediate landings were added to meet the local building code which required the intermediate landings based upon the overall height of the mezzanine platform.
An electrical system was also included as part of the installation process. The Versa-King modular building system includes a vertical wiring chase between every modular panel connection. The customer had the option of using a conventional electrical wiring system for the modular offices, or they could use a modular wiring system that is also available for use in our modular buildings.
