This 3" Versa-King modular computer room was installed inside this postal facility to shelter sensitive computer equipment from the outside environment. The customer selected a modular panel system because they wanted the construction to be faster than what they knew they could achieve with conventional construction.
The panel surface for this modular computer room included a pre-finished drywall surface laminated to a Class 1 EPS core. This panel construction was selected to improve noise reduction and to create a Class 1 fire rated wall. The color blue was selected from the seven standard pre-finished drywall panel colors Porta-King offers. The color blue was selected in order to match an internal color scheme and to stand out from the other rooms inside the building.
The customer selected the Versa-King wall system to construct this modular computer room for several reasons. The anodized aluminum post will never rust like a steel post when exposed to moisture of high humidity. In addition, the vertical connecting post of this Versa-King modular computer room also serve as a wiring chase to conceal electrical, data and communication system wiring within the wall panel.
The other advantage to using a completely prefabricated wall design was the eliminatation of the mess of on-site cutting of materials they knew would occur with conventional construction. This was of particular importance to this customer because of the concern about dust and debris getting into the computers they were trying to protect. The prefabricated design helped keep the area of construction extra clean along with expediting the assembly process. The other advantage to this type of prefabricated construction is that all materials can be taken down and reconstructed or reconfigured at a different location.
