Porta-King manufactured the modular walls to construct these tanning salon rooms for this Mid-West based chain of tanning salons. Utilization of a prefabricated wall system to create these rooms provided this customer with several distinct advantages over the utilization of conventional construction materials.
The prefabricated panels and associated assembling components used to create each room arrive pre-cut and mitered to fit the exact floor plan layout. Because no on-site fabrication of materials was required, our client was able to finish this project much faster. Our standard wall panels include pre-finished surfaces which are available in a wide variety of color choices. Providing a pre-finished panel surface eliminates the mess and time associated with the mudding and taping and painting required in finishing a drywall system.
We manufacture a variety of different wall systems that can used to construct a modular tanning room. Many of our wall systems are available in either a 3” or 1 ¾” nominal thickness. Although both panel options are thinner than a typical 4” thick drywall wall, most customers select the 1 3/4” panel thickness for these applications. There are two main reasons customers prefer our thinner wall panels. One is that they occupy less floor space, which works well for maximizing on the number of rooms that can be fit into the existing space. The other reason is that the thinner wall panels cost less than the 3” thick option. The tanning rooms shown in this photograph were constructed using our PK Series 175 -1 3/4” modular wall system. The thinner profile of our PK175 system enabled our customers to maximize utilization of their existing floor space and to incorporate more rooms that would have been possible with a 4” thick conventional wall.
In addition to these advantages, this entire system can be moved to another location with a 100% recapture of the materials purchased for the original construction. Custom painted six panel doors were added at the customer’s request. We also offer other optional door styles or custom panel finishes matching your specific project requirements.
