| Environmental Room with Extra Tall Walls |
This environmental room with extra tall walls is installed in a factory that produces specialized components for the automotive industry. The extra tall walls were necessary because of the height of the equipment this environmental room was designed to house.
This particular system was constructed utilizing our 3” Versa-King wall system. The system was selected because of the composition of the wall panels required for this application. The walls for this room included a ½” layer of drywall laminated to a solid polystyrene core with a finished surface of painted steel. Because of this design and the height required for the wall panels, the panels would be constructed in two-pieces. This height combined with the weight of the material used to create this composite panel required the heavy-duty design of the 3” Versa-King connecting post to ensure the stability of the overall system. In addition, the insulating core provides excellent sound control and thermal insulation, which were both important design features for this environmental room.
The concept of a pre-engineered modular designed enabled the walls to be built around the existing piece of equipment much faster than would have been possible with conventional construction materials. In addition, because our Versa-King system includes components that are all pre-cut and mitered from our factory, the construction was much cleaner too.
The room shown in this photo included an extra wide door to allow large production components to easily move in and out of the environmentally controlled space. In addition, windows were added to enable personnel outside the room to monitor the process inside with constantly opening and closing the door.
