Porta-King Guard Building Brings Security To School and University Campuses
March 5, 2009
Porta-King's prefabricated guard buildings secure school campuses from wrongful entry. The prefabricated guard building pictured here is used as a "permit security check point" at a high school entrance. All incoming traffic must stop and present permit identification at the building prior to entering school grounds. This Porta-King prefabricated guard booth model features a factory applied brick facade, and is available with a flat or optional standing seam roof. Unlike the competition the brick used is not a pre-engineered panel that is mechanically fastened to to the outside walls. Instead, Porta-King utilizes a real brick veneer where pieces are installed one at a time and includes morter like material between bricks to create a building that looks like the masonery was completed on-site. This finish is especially popular for schools that need to maintain a more historic appearance for all buildings on campus. The building arrives fully assembled and completely pre-wired. A variety of climate control options are also available. Building can also be supplied with factory plumbed restrooms along with many other custom features to address specific application requirements.
To better accommodate the different style preferences, physical environments and other considerations we offer three primary construction options. Duraluminum is a maintenance free all anodized aluminum prefabricated building that is ideal for a wide range of applications and is typically our most economical construction option. Both of the other prefabricated guard building construction options we offer utilize steel as the primary construction material. Durasteel is an all steel building with a 14 gauge seamless exterior surface. Durasteel’s are a welded structure, constructed with custom steel shapes that enable us to create custom features like ballistic rated walls and windows, custom wall and roof designs along with a long list of other unique design features. The last construction option we offer is Durasteel PC. This variation of our Durasteel product line includes preformed steel panels inserted into a welded steel frame to create the wall of the structure. This process is less labor intensive than the seamless walls we create for a Durasteel guard shack. Because of this the Durasteel PC is more economically priced that Durasteel. Additionally, the steel panel inserts can be removed and replaced if damaged.
Porta-King prefabricated buildings are also ideal for campus use as press boxes, ticket booths, information kiosks, smoking shelters and transportation shelters.
