| Control Cab for Steel Shredding Operation |
This 14'x10' Durasteel Control Cab is set on top of a structural steel tower also supplied by Porta-King. The tower is installed on the roof of an existing building. The combined height of the two structures places this control cab approximately 44 feet above the ground. This height was necessary to give the operators inside this building the ability to monitor operation of a large steel shredding machine.
Special sloped windows consisting of MR-10 glazing to resist breakage caused from flying shrapnel that could shoot off from the steel shredder. The walls consist of galvanized 14 gauge sheet steel exterior and a 16 gauge galvanized interior. The 2” thick wall includes a blanket of R-10 insulation which helps to control the climate and protect equipment located inside this cab.
Porta-King manufactured this custom designed control cabs in compliance with the specifications created by the architect for this project. A detailed set of approval drawings was created for review by the general contractor and architect prior to fabrication.
Because we manufactured both the cab and tower, the owner was assured that the project would be completed without the additional coordination required when procuring material from multiple sources. A Porta-King representative met worked closely with the contractor to make certain the final product would meet the owner’s expectations.
