Chemical Plants Look for Quick Solutions to Increase Security

ST. LOUIS, MO— According to the Environmental Protection Agency, more than 3800 chemical plants could affect 10,000 to one million Americans if their toxic gases are released. Although members of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) have voluntarily spent more than $2 billion since 9/11 to enhance security at their plants, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) still has not taken authority over chemical industry security.
