Mezzanines

A prefabricated mezzanine is a cost effective and time efficient way to create additional storage space in any new or existing building. Mezzanines create additional floor space by going up not out, saving you the considerable cost of new construction. The prefabricated design also saves time since all components arrive prefabricated and ready for immediate installation. Additionally all design work is done in house as part of the price of the structure.  This added service eliminates the cost of hiring an architecture or engineer to design an appropriate, code compliant structure.  

Porta-King’s prefabricated mezzanines are constructed utilizing all structural steel components and are designed in strict compliance with the IBC (International Building Code). We use modified (partially restrained) Type 1 or (fully restrained) Type 3 AISC (American Institute for Steel Construction) designs for our beam to column connections.  These designs are the standard within the steel construction industry.  Other manufacturers use (unrestrained) Type 2 AISC connections for their beam to column connections when in reality this connection is only intended for gravity loads and will not provide the necessary resistance to movement required for this critical connection point in the structure.

Another unique design feature incorporated into our standard design is our one of a kind panelized guard rail that fastens to the top deck.  This unique design much faster and easier to install than competitive systems that include guard rails comprised of lots of loose pieces that require field assembly.

When you speak with a Porta-King representative about your project they will collect details regarding your application.  This will include identifying the geographical locations where this structure will be installed.  From there we will generate an estimate for you to review.  Be assured that the price you receive for this mezzanine will include a design and all materials to create a structure that will meet the latest code from the onset.  We won't provide you with a price then hit you for extras for additional steel structure after the fact.

Unlike many of our competitors, we’ll supply you with a truly prefabricated mezzanine system. All of our connecting hardware is pre-welded onto the structural components prior to shipping. A lot of our competitors call their mezzanines prefabricated, but that just means the various components used to construct their mezzanine are fabricated prior to shipping. Unlike a Porta-King mezzanine, this doesn’t always mean these components arrive welded to the structural components and ready to be bolted together.  Porta-King mezzanines can typically be installed about 40% faster than a comparably sized competitor's system.  This means you get back to business sooner with a Porta-King.
