Modular Laser Enclosures

In the laser manufacturing industry, operator and plant safety is a critical concern. Because of the danger and risk associated with this type of work environment, it becomes a top priority to protect workers and expensive equipment should any type of malfunction occur. For this reason, placing an enclosure around the full perimeter and above the laser system is of critical importance.

Porta-King Building Systems supplied this custom modular laser enclosure to an automotive plant building a new concept vehicle. The laser system utilizes two robots which will feed assembly lines within the Porta-King enclosure cell.

This specific laser system shown in this photograph will be used to build doors for an electric concept vehicle. The Porta-King enclosures was installed to shelter plant workers that are directly involved with the assembly process.

The modular design of our Versa-King walls was constructed faster than conventional construction, and affords the customer the added flexibility of moving the system at anytime in the future. Porta-King's pre-cut and mitered design for all the modular components used to assemble this enclosure also means less mess in the area of construction. This can be of particular importance when working around sensitive equipment like lasers where dust from drywall used in conventional construction could cause serious damage.

This enclosure includes a variety of special design features, such as 45 degree corners, a panelized ceiling and a custom steel framed opening that supports the 2-wall section in the forefront of this photo without the use of a column. This unique design feature was included to enable door components to move freely upon the high-speed turn table that moves them in and out of the enclosed space during the fabrication process.
