Turnstile Shelters

This Porta-King prefabricated turnstile shelter provides complete cover for turnstiles at this southeastern based paper manufacturing facility. Adding shelters like the one shown in this photograph will protect turnstiles from inclement weather especially if keycard readers or other sensitive access control equipment is included. Because this unit shipped fully assembled, installation of was completed in a matter of minutes. The rigid structure enables our shelters to be crane lifted into place even in places where space around the turnstile is limited. This particular application is a perfect example. A crane was used in lieu of a forklift because of the limited space created by existing fencing. The crane operator was able to easily maneuver the structures into position. Once these units were oriented into the right position, crews quickly anchored them onto the existing concrete pad.

The steel tube frame for a turnstile shelter is modified slightly to include an additional horizontal brace at the bottom.  This additional tube reduces the open space under the windows to make it virtually impossible for someone attempting to slide under the structure and enter the property without proper authorization.

All Porta-King prefabricated turnstile shelters include a durable, industrial grade acrylic enamel paint finish. To further protect structures from rust, we include a bituminous coating on the structural support tubes and anchoring plates. As a standard, all of our prefabricated exterior buildings include a factory-installed roof with gutters.

Lighting was added to this turnstile shelter to improve employee visibility during nighttime usage. Exterior lighting can also be added to enhance security by illuminating the surrounding area. Standard glazing for our prefabricated shelters is 3/16” tempered safety glass. Polycarbonate or Plexiglas can be added to a turnstile shelter to guard against breakage. All glazing is held in place with maintenance free anodized aluminum window frames.
