The Challenge: Supporting Facility Expansion for High-Volume Manufacturing
The team at Stanley Black & Decker’s manufacturing facility in Hesston, Kansas, needed to expand its existing powder coating room to accommodate increased production of Stanley and Black & Decker tools and equipment. The new space needed to be durable, efficien,t and integrate seamlessly into the existing manufacturing environment, while also including safe and defined walkways for team members.
The Solution: Dual-System Modular Design using Monolith Steel and Versa-King Panels
Porta-King provided a custom modular enclosure, meaning approximately 50’ x 120’ x 18’ high to form the new powder coating addition. We used 18’ tall monolithic steel/foam/steel panels for the main enclosure walls to create an insulated, high-performance barrier around the powder coating area.
We also incorporated 10’ high Versa-King panels, constructed with painted steel on drywall, to support foot traffic and define entry to the oven. These panels were used to create walkways and an accessible transition space between the production floor and the oven area.
