These two unique towers are designed to provide marching band directors and their staff a safe and secure way to observe band practices from an elevated, unobstructed, point of view. The unique pre-engineered design we use to create these towers facilitates an extremely fast installation process to minimize impact to daily field activities. Both options are designed to meet wind load requirements for code in the geographical location of the installation. Because application requirements and budgets can vary application demands, we offer two construction options:
The High Rise
Top of deck height to 52’.
The Crow’s Nest
A more economical design with maximum top of deck height of 32’.
Structural Framing
The High-Rise
We use a heavy-duty structural steel components to create an incredibly rigid framework. We completely weld the entire primary structure so that it arrives at your facility ready to be stood up and anchored. All steel is galvanized to resist corrosion and provide years of maintenance free performance.
The Crow's Nest
Welded structural steel components are used to create a more economical design without sacrificing code compliance and safety. A complete tower frame is shipped to your facility ready to be stood up and anchored. The roof and ships ladder are then easily installed on-site to complete the assembly process. All steel is galvanized to resist corrosion and provide years of maintenance free performance.
Floor Decking
The High-Rise
All deck surfaces utilize a galvanized serrated plank grating that provides added traction and allows for air movement while enabling light snow, ice and rain water to pass through deck surface for added safety.
The Crow's Nest
The deck surface utilizes a galvanized bar grating that allows for air movement while enabling light snow, ice, and rainwater to pass through deck surface for added safety.
Access
The High-Rise
Ships Ladder
Access to the top of each tower is by use of our internal galley stair systems. The stairs are factory installed into every tower to further enhance the speed of assembly. Like our deck surface we utilize galvanized, serrated plank grating to facilitate air movement and prevent buildup of light snow, ice, and rain.
The Crow's Nest
Caged Ladder
Fully welded galvanized design includes a wraparound cage for added safety. Mechanically fastens to the tower frame and concrete slab.
Roof Structure
The High-Rise
1 ½” galvanized, corrugated B deck
Roofs are a closed end gabled design and can be provided in one of 20 standard colors. Roof structures ship as a separate unit for easy installation.
The Crow's Nest
1 ½” galvanized, corrugated B deck
Foundation Design
The High-Rise
Porta-King provides full engineering analysis of the structure for your specific location as well as design of the foundation and these services are included in the cost of the tower. Every tower is secured to the concrete foundation at 32 points with stainless steel epoxy anchors.
The Crow's Nest
Porta-King provides full engineering analysis of the structure for your specific location as well as design of the foundation and these services are included in the cost of the tower. Every Bird’s Nest Tower is secured to the concrete foundation at 16 points with stainless steel epoxy anchors.
Balconies
The High-Rise
We supply these balconies to create viewing platforms. They are available at single or multiple levels. Towers can included balconies on one, two, three of four sides and can be placed at any height. Multi-balcony designs are spaced in 8’ increments. Balconies are shipped as a factory welded unit for easy on-site attachment to the tower.
Security Door
The High-Rise
