About a year ago, a midwest-based manufacturer of aircraft engines came to us with a problem. They needed to reduce demand on their aging power plant and were looking to realize energy savings and increase flexibility to their manufacturing processes as well. To accomplish this, they wanted to begin installing small process-specific boilers around their plant. Safety and efficiency were their primary concerns.
Porta-King Worked with Our Partners to Design a Unified Solution
We worked with our dealer, Integrated Modular Construction, and A.B. Young, a boiler company, to provide a unified solution. Our design included a Fulton skid-mounted boiler and enclosure all in one.

While the client’s engineers originally wanted a floored enclosure, we felt it would be redundant because the skid-mounted Fulton boilers already had a substantial base. Our goal is always to provide the best product with zero wasted material. With Porta-King’s help, Integrated Modular Construction and A.B. Young manufactured a floorless enclosure they called a “cake cover.” The resulting Durasteel PC-2512SW enclosure featured:
- A complete 12’x25’ steel welded floorless building
- 4 6-ft double doors at 9 ft high that would allow for the removal of boilers as needed
- A Greenheck louvered fan system
- 2 suspended heaters
