Porta-King’s pre-engineered, structural steel mezzanines are an easy, efficient and affordable way to add new floor space at a fraction of the cost of new construction. Our unique prefabricated component design allows you to easily assemble these structures onto the existing concrete floor of your factory, warehouse or where ever you need to add new space. The concept is simply to utilize the unused ceiling space that most facilities have but don’t use. All of our mezzanines are custom designed to the dimensional requirements you provide.
This photo is a good example of how the concept works. This newly constructed mezzanine is 19′ wide x 29′ long and 12′ high. The site for construction is the shipping & maintenance area of a community college in Iowa. The space was needed for storage of miscellaneous school products.
The mezzanine was installed quickly and is designed with tab extensions on one end to allow for future growth of the mezzanine. A 250 pound per square foot (PSF) load rating allows for heavy product storage. The finished floor consists of a 20 gauge metal deck covered with layer of oriented strand board (OSB). Full perimeter guard rail is included for safety along with a swing gates for easy access to the mezzanine deck.

Our modular partition walls are available in a variety of construction compositions to address a wide range of application requirements. With our 3” Versa-King wall system we can create partition walls suitable for a variety of different types of project. Applications range from subdividing existing office space to demising walls that create separate manufacturing environments.
We also have a system we call Monolith that is primarily used for the latter of these two applications. With Monolith we can create a modular wall system up to 40’ tall. Check out these photos of an ongoing installation taking place at a heavy manufacturing plant in the southeast. The single span construction of our monolith panel makes them much easier to install that our competitors stacked panel design.
In addition to our Versa-King and Monolith modular partition systems we also manufacturer two different thin profile modular walls that are perfect for open space and floor to ceiling applications. These systems help maximize space utilization while providing the same or better performance than a conventionally built stud wall.

We received a call yesterday from our friends at Barrick Gold Corporation. They have been a great customer for us having purchased multiple prefabricated building for use as control rooms at the mines they operate throughout the western U.S.. The e-mail we received indicated that they wanted to purchase another one of those “lovely” shacks from us. Although we rarely have anyone refer to our prefabricated buildings as “lovely” when you look at this photo you will see why. As you can imagine the grounds of a mining operation are a place where strict adherence to safety is critical. As part of their focus on safety Barrick requires us to paint these shacks some rather unusual colors. They do this to make these buildings highly visible. As they have explained to us, “with 400 ton trucks and other heavy equipment roaming all around our mines we need these buildings to stand out as much as possible.”

We were presented with a unique product application last week. A contractor that completes repair and maintenance on ships at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard contacted us because they needed to create immediate shelter for a new time clock they were installing. This time clock was being installed for employees to use as they entered and exited the work site. Prior to the introduction of these time clocks, employees were allowed to enter and exit the area without any official documentation. Our representative, Brian Sandusky, explained that this company was part of a large contingent of other companies doing maintenance on two military ships that were dry docked at the port. Because they were working in a large open area of the shipyard there was no good way for them to account for their personnel as the entered and existed the site. To create the enclosures we supplied a Duraluminum prefabricated buildings. The only way the employees can now enter or exit the work area is by entering into one of these prefabricated buildings and punching in or out via one of these time clocks. Now the management team has a cost effective, easy to monitor program for keeping track of who is working at this site. The new system has worked so well for them they have purchased a total of four buildings for this same application. After visiting the site Brian commented on what an unbelievably impressive site it was seeing these mammoth ships actually sitting out of the water. The navy bring these ships in to do retrofits and other scheduled maintenance.
